Green Your Classroom Challenge
 Green Your Classroom Challenge - a grant program managed by Eastern Idaho Environmental Education Association.
Just how green is your classroom? (No, we don’t mean the color of your school!) What things do you and your students do that help to make a difference in taking care of our earth? Show us how your actions have a positive effect on the environment, and work together to establish new environmentally-friendly practices for your classroom. Whatever your project is, we want to hear about it. Take the green challenge and submit a “Green Your Classroom” proposal!
Four classes will be selected and will receive a $250 grant from the Eastern Idaho Environmental Education Association, Idaho National Laboratory, and iSTEM to implement their project.
Awards
Four (4) $250 awards will be made to four classrooms submitting a winning project proposal.
Eligibility
Project Proposal
The project proposal must be no more than three (3) pages and include the following information.
Project Abstract - The project abstract should present a concise summary of the project. Statement of Need - The statement of need should describe the problem that the project will attempt to address. Program Description - Describe the project or program and provide information on how it will be implemented. Include information on what will be accomplished and the desired outcome. - Budget
Judging Criteria:
The project has improved or will improve the environmental health of the school (30 points). The project is sustainable; i.e., either the project will continue and/or the impact on the school’s environmental health will be a lasting one (30 points). The project is initiated by students and engages other students, teachers, and school administrators (30 points). The proposal package is well put-together (10 points). The project engages the community (10 bonus points).

Grants awarded to winning classrooms – September 30, 2011 Duration of “Green Your Classroom” project – October 1-February 29 Follow-up report due to EIEEA committee – March 1, 2012. For the follow-up, we encourage you to be creative. The report should detail your project’s successes and challenges. You can write an essay, make a movie, take photos, build a Web site, make a slideshow presentation, etc. Winning classes will present their project at the Idaho Falls Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 28, 2012. Projects could be featured in the Post Register.
